As o'er the hills we go; What a squeaking noise the runners make As they leave the frozen snow!"
13. They rode to the door, and Charles jumped out
And gave his hand to her: "Why sit you there like a monument That has no power to stir?"
14. He tore the mantle from her brow,
And the gold in her hair there shone; She was a cold and frozen corpse As cold and stiff as stone.
15. He kissed her once, he kissed her twice;
He kissed her frozen brow; His thoughts ran back to where she said, "I'm growing warmer now."
